Ideal strategy to prepare for IBPS PO 2019 exam

According to IBPS official notifications, IBPS PO preliminary exam is expected to be held in the month of October 2019. So, aspirants will have just three months of exam preparation. The sections to be prepared by aspirants are English Language, Numerical Ability and Reasoning Ability. As per latest syllabus, it is believed that more than half of the English grammar topics are been covered in higher secondary level, so you have to triumph only the exam pattern of this written competitive exam.

There will be huge amount of fresh candidates for this exam. The one big question that they will be having in their mind is – How much time will be needed to complete the entire course effectively?

A smart and organized study plan is required as time left for the exam is just three months. Firstly, IBPS PO 2019 aspirants should thoroughly go through the exam pattern and syllabus and try to list out important topics. After thoroughly scrutinizing it, it can be concluded that majority of the topics in English and Mathematics Section are covered in Higher Secondary CBSE syllabus, therefore, it is not difficult to prepare these topics within three months. Besides this, you should plan extra time for revision that should primarily include attempting of mock tests.

Do start your exam preparation with important topics which sounds difficult to you in your schooling time. It is advised to prepare a time-table that should cover all the important topics from all the sections. For accomplishing this uphill task, you should have strong determination and will to learn and understand the toughest of concepts with your hard-work. It will help you in maintain regularity and consistency in your study plan.  



For mastering English section, you should first understand that questions are asked in MCQs format which is entirely different than CBSE pattern. So, it is advisable to buy a question bank of previous year question papers to understand the exam pattern. The frequently asked questions are from topics like spot the error, reading comprehension, cloze test, sentence improvement, spelling mistakes, Para jumbles, jumbled sentence, etc.

 It should be observed that all these topics are based on the parts of speech and so you have to master the basic grammar rules to solve these questions easily and rapidly. The section of English language is designed to test the language proficiency of the candidates and so you should polish your grammatical, vocabulary and reading skills to perfection.


Likewise, Mathematics or Numerical Ability section is also MCQs based sections that need thorough practice of the formula and theorems learned in the higher secondary level. The complicated and tricky topics should be taken first and do try to learn basics properly. After completing every topic, do attempt at least 60 to 70 questions based on them to master the concepts perfectly. Do attempt quizzes, test series and online mocktest papers to analyze your preparation and performance. 

The feedback delivered will give you reasoning for your shortcomings with authentic answers. It should be taken very seriously to work again and again to overcome your weaknesses. Besides this strategy, do learn the tables and short tricks to improve the speed of solving the questions as this section is the calculation based section which needs lot of practice. 


Reasoning section is quizzical designed section that tests the reasoning and analytical abilities of the candidates. So, you need lots of practice and tips and tricks to understand the quizzes and puzzles. Topics like Seating Arrangement and Puzzles are most the important topics and are also time-consuming. Therefore, it needs lot of practice to acquire speed and accuracy in solving questions based on them. The aspirants should practice and understand these topics first while doing exam preparation. Thereafter, you should take more than 75 questions on each topic to ace them.

 Topics like seating arrangement topic needs lot of practice and so take one topic test of about 25 questions every day and get it checked properly by the subject experts.  Do take mock tests seriously and work hard on its feedback.
